Who but was raised in contemplation so to the sky, take care, do not drop by a slip suddenly into the abyss, and after such a wonderful experience not to return again to worldly bustle and the lusts of the flesh.
However, since the human mind in its weakness the splendor of divine light can not endure long, he must descend gently, and it should to one of the three other stages on which he had risen. He dwells at will soon be on one soon the other, depending on the location and time.
God He will always be the closer,
the further he is from the first stage.
But how frail and poor is but human nature!
our reason and the testimony of Scripture tell us
that in these four steps to perfection
a good life is contained and that
a spiritual man must practice constantly,
to climb it.
But who is this Way?
Where is he, that we praise him?
The will is close to many,
few but the accomplishment.
God grant that we belong to this small band!
