Also, what does it profit a man to see in meditation, what is his duty if we do not pray in the power of prayer, they meet with the grace of God to do? For "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, the Father of lights" (James 1:17), without which we can accomplish anything. He is indeed at work in us, though not without our help, because "we are God's fellow workers" (1 Corinthians 3:9), as the Apostle says. God wants us to contribute our part to open the secret chamber of our will to him and let him go when he is at the door and knocks.
